火輪を抱いた少女
The chapters on this site are the equivalent of rough drafts up to chapter 11. If you want to read the polished and corrected translations of 1-10: お兄ちゃんやめてぇ. Chapters beyond 11 were supposed to be on お兄ちゃんやめてぇ at some point, but I’m now an ancestral ghost over there, so it’s dubious that a properly checked chapter will appear there. Maybe an audiobook style reading will, though.
Author: 七沢 またり
How long I’d been here, I couldn’t quite recall. From this sorry situation, I as always raised my eyes to the sky; a sky in which the great, massive sun was clad in levity. Sunlight poured gently upon all. What a blessing it would have been for the world if only the skies could remain clear. For tomorrow too, and for all days to come, I was to continue to pray for calm. To endure for those who cried, with desperation I remained in prayer.
And then, one freezing, forlorn, soulless, stagnant, drizzly day we died. Or so I thought…
My editor is not doing anything.
Asking somebody on OCY to TLC almost 400 pages might be a bit much at this point.
I’m almost done! I’ll have completed a project. 1st TL out of the way.
Thanks for sticking with me to the end. I hope to bring you more translations of a higher quality from here on out.
It would be nice if your links were easy to tell apart from the text. I thought no chapters have been translated, until I noticed that chapter 2 is being translated.

Chapter 2 will be accessible on March 5th, 2016 at 00:00 UTC. Well, that is if wordpress works like I think it does… The current links are placeholders so I can save time when finalizing the page.

The chapter 2 seems avalaible, but the link is dead.
Same thing for the “Next chapter” link in chapter 1.

Those links are placeholders for when I’ve completed the chapter 2 page. If they bother you let me know; I guess I could remove them if people got seriously confused.

Nah, it’s just that I saw that the current chapter progress went to 0 and then I saw the links, so I thought that chapter 2 was out :p
When do you think we will be able to read it 😀 ?

The editing, and polishing should be done soon. The chapter release is scheduled for March 5th at 00:00 UTC, which is actually Friday, March 4th in North/South America, and on the following Saturday everywhere else.

How many Chapters does this Novel have?
I was even wondering why the general writing style seemed familiar until I noticed that it has the same author as The Girl Who Ate a Death God.^^
I really like this story. Just why are there so few novels with good female protagonists? When it comes to light novels there are even fewer than fantasy novels….

Is this the WN or LN?
Also, thanks for translating this. Aside from the fact that the Sheeprabbit recommends it, it’s also apparently writen by the same author of “The Girl Who Ate a Death God” which just gets better with each chapter. I’m expecting all kinds of awesome from this novel, but I’ll probably wait for some more chapters before reading.

Have you considered asking around on Discord for a TLC? I think you might need one.

Or rather, I invited you to Discord so that you could ask Kookie etc. if there were lines you didn’t understand. There’s no need to just guess, lol.

The problem is I can’t tell if I don’t understand it. I get things wrong in a semi-coherent way and I really don’t have the experience to tell if it is off.

Oh, just look at it methodically. Break it down into parts, and see the words interact, instead of focusing on keywords and vaguely guessing what they mean.

Well, that is how I got the readable thing we have here. If it is really bad, I guess I could just ask for help whenever I’m uncertain instead of sitting on it for a bit and coming back later.

I like the records, partially because this is half a battle against my own carelessness as I have a bad habit of glossing over what I think are minor details. It even happens when I am cooking!

I see. Well all right then.

For example,
“Young women were gathered by the roadside, and Geb had raised his voice amidst a throng of young men. ”
“道端で若い女にのしかかっている若者に声を掛けるゲブ”
Geb spoke to a youth who was bent over a young woman by the roadside.
道端で – on the roadside
若い女 – young woman
に – acting upon
のしかかっている – who was (leaning/pressing) on
若者 – a youth
に – acting upon
声を掛ける – called out to
ゲブ – Geb
So together, literally,
“Geb, who called out to a youth, who was pressed atop a woman by the roadside.”
When you break it down, there’s little room for interpretation for this particular sentence, and if you’re sort of guessing the way conjugated verbs work, or which way the ‘に’ particle is working, try asking for help in Discord!

Yeah, I don’t really know how I manage to mess up on some of these when I think about it. I always am able to get why I was wrong the first time I reread it, I actually just did for that one you broke down for me. Frankly it is a bit embarrassing. At this point you’ve been correcting so many errors you still have more comments on this site than I do.

Oh, um, I don’t want to look so overbearing either, so could you delete my comments once you’re done reading them? xD

So reading through this story it strikes me how many parallels can be drawn between The Girl Who Ate a Death God and this, like the entire plot feels basically the same? Did the author just want to rewrite it after learning from the previous experience or something? I’d say this one is definitely better, though that could just be because of a better translation.

I have read and still reading many novel and not many of them impress me (in particular the genre of fantasy and military). Because often there is shown a super strong Nipper, throwing right and left blunt enemies. This oh, how tired. And about a year ago I came across this light novel quite by accident. And you know … the thought came straight at me: “It’s definitely worth reading. Certainly!”. As if I knew that this should be done. And I was damn right! This is a great novel. I thank you with all my heart for the labor that you are invest to this translation.
